Every change has a clear boundary
ProxyFox treats a proxy change as a complete transaction, not a click followed by an ambiguous status light.
Match authentication
Credentials are supplied only when the proxy host and port match the active profile.
Apply atomically
Chrome settings and extension state move together, preventing a misleading UI state.

Failed saves, switches, deletes, and imports restore the previous settings.

Authenticated proxies
Credentials remain in the current Chrome profile and are used only for a strictly matching proxy challenge.
Pre-save test
Temporarily apply a candidate, report apply and network timing, then restore the previous setting.
Readable bypass rules
Use domains, wildcards, IP addresses, CIDR, IPv6, and full-line or inline comments.
Controlled exports
Credentials are removed by default and written as plaintext only after explicit opt-in.

What to know before installing
No. Bring a proxy host, port, and credentials from a source you trust.
Chrome's proxy authentication event filter requires this host range. ProxyFox does not use it to read or modify page content.
No. Settings use chrome.storage.local in the current Chrome profile. Local storage is not an encrypted credential vault.
Not currently. ProxyFox imports its own versioned JSON format; SwitchyOmega and ZeroOmega exports are not directly compatible.
